Speed Skating BC would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to Alicia Krywiak for her leadership and contributions as Interim Executive Director over the past year. Seconded to SSBC from Speed Skating Canada, Alicia stepped into the role at an important time for our organization and provided steady leadership, thoughtful guidance and a strong commitment to supporting our members, clubs, athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers.

Over the past year, Alicia has helped guide SSBC through a period of change while keeping the organization focused on its programs, services and the continued development of speed skating in British Columbia. Her willingness to take on whatever was needed have made a meaningful difference to SSBC and to the broader speed skating community.

The Board of Directors would like to recognize Alicia for the time, energy and care she has invested in SSBC and to thank her for the many contributions she has made during her secondment. Reflecting on this impact, Ngoc Huynh said, “Alicia’s commitment to learning about and improving Safe Sport processes together made our Safe Sport work feel less daunting and lonely.” Graeme Jahns echoed these sentiments, adding, “Alicia’s willingness to dig into issues, no matter how big or small, made it less stressful to be a new board member.”

Alicia will now return to Speed Skating Canada. While we are sorry to see her leave SSBC, we are pleased that she will continue to contribute to the sport in her capacity at our National Sport Organization. We wish Alicia every success in her role and are grateful for the impact she has had on Speed Skating BC over the past year. Thank you, Alicia!
