BC Speed Skating is proud to announce that we have received confirmation of our status as a Core Sport in the 2020 BC Winter Games! The 2020 Games will be held in Fort St. John, BC. The Games will feature U14 (12- and 13-year old skaters) from across the province, and will include both short track and long track events. All skaters will participate in both disciplines, with planned practice times and practice races for those who do not have previous long track experience.

For the first time in BC Games history, speed skating will be bringing a contingent of 10 youth (ages 14-16) who will act as mentors to the younger skaters. These youth will also take part in the Level 1 Officials clinic and will fulfill the role of track steward during the Games.

More information on competition format, qualification process and the youth mentor program will be available over the coming months. The Technical Package for the Games will be released in the fall of 2018.
