Academy Fall Long Track returns in Fort St. John from September 26-28 with guest coach Tyler Williamson-Derraugh! It's the perfect pre-season tune-up with ice times on the 400m oval, dryland sessions, and time trials.

🤔 Are you ready to work with coach Tyler? Tyler Williamson-Derraugh is a former member of the Canadian National Speed Skating Team, proudly representing Canada from 2009 to 2015. Over the course of his career, he competed in three World Sprint Championships, two World Single Distance Championships, and more than 20 World Cups, earning seven top-10 finishes along the way. In 2013, he was crowned Canadian National Champion in the 1000m.

After retiring from competition, Tyler transitioned into coaching, serving as the Technical Director and Provincial Coach for Speed Skating Manitoba for 6 years. During that time, he coached at three Junior World Championships, guiding athletes like Tyson Langelaar and Alexa Scott to podium finishes on the international stage.

Tyler has remained closely connected to the sport, continuing to consult for Speed Skating Canada over the past four years. His work has spanned both competition pathway development and high-performance, blending his knowledge of the sport with a passion for growth.

In addition to his work in speed skating, Tyler has built a full-time career as a skate designer and manufacturer in both the speed and hockey skate industries (TRUE Hockey). Most recently, he’s brought his expertise to the broadcasting world as an on-air analyst for the International Skating Union, providing commentary and insights for the Short Track World Tour. His role includes sharing racing analysis, sport history, and educational segments for fans around the globe.

🥳 Shoutout to our BC Officials who have received their Speed Skating Canada Officials Upgrades heading into the new season! 📋

To earn a national upgrade, an official must develop their craft through a series of on-ice and off-ice training and professional development, which includes completing technical courses, gathering competition experience under the supervision of senior officials, and meeting certain performance requirements, such as satisfactory evaluations.
