Speed Skating BC is excited to welcome the following people to our Team.  As we move forward into the next quadrennial Speed Skating BC is making a commitment to building our provincial technical programs, providing opportunities for Coach and Officials development and supporting our Clubs in creating exciting opportunities to skate fast and turn left! 

Max Thibault – Provincial Coaching Coordinator

We are happy to welcome Max to the team at SSBC.  Originally from Quebec, Max will be bringing over a decade of experience including assistant and head coach roles in the High Performance Hybrid Program at Centre d’Entrainement Gaétan-Boucher (CEGB).  He will be working primarily with our GenBC and Academy programs in addition to being the Head Coach for TeamBC when our athletes travel to National competitions. 

With the addition of Max to the team, GenBC has been updated to include a greater focus on supporting their daily training environment through greater coach and program support.  He will also be coaching at the Academy sessions such as the Academy program on June 10-11, 2023 in Kelowna.

Jennifer Gibson – Strength & Conditioning Coach

We are also happy to welcome back Jen Gibson to the SSBC team as Strength and Conditioning Coach.  Jen will be combining her considerable experience in coaching in speed skating with her professional training as a Kinesiologist.  We are happy to have her as part of the team as we start working towards the 2024 BC Winter Games and eventually Canada Winter Games in 2027.  Jen will also be taking part in the Academy session in June.

Patrick Gu – Summer Sport Administrator

Patrick Gu will be making the transition from a skater in the Kamloops Long Blades Club to one behind the scenes as the Speed Skating BC Summer Sport Administrator.  He will be bringing his considerable knowledge of skating to help with the logistics and planning for the upcoming season and working on other projects as we prepare for the upcoming season.
