Intro to Comp is geared to prepare developing skaters with the basic skills necessary for successful competition, with an emphasis on technical development and seasonal practice plan design. 👏 #PlayitForward it's National Volunteer Week! We received an incredible amount of Volunteer of the Year nominations filled with inspiring stories and examples of people making a difference to improve their clubs and our organization, to push our skaters faster together. 🥳 Congratulations to Barb Beck, our SSBC Recreational Coach of the Year recipient! Barb always leads with patience, understanding, and kindness in her approach to building new skaters’ confidence on the ice and in learning to skate. Barb's continual work at the Port Coquitlam Lightning Speed Skating Club's recruitment has added 5-10 new skaters per season, over the last two years the total has grown from 23 to 55 skaters. Through countless years of dedication, Barb spends 9 hours per week coaching and ensuring skaters are welcome and part of the club. Congratulations, Barb! 🙏
